GREYHOUNDS ENTERED IN ONLINE VOTING CONTEST-ELIGIBLE TO WIN THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS

With only 39 days left to vote...cast your vote for Tarzan the Man. Also, send well wishes as he recovers from his neuter and packs his bags to move to his new home in Fort Stockton. This little guy traded in his racing silks for an early retirement!

Hey--King Tut and Chloe wanted you to know that A Place for Us Greyhounds helps Salukis, too! Vote for the hounds!!

Vote for Bear! He's a retired hunter--he's living the good life and happy to be a companion for Scott. An only dog--getting pet-pets and lounging on the couch. "Life is good?", Bear.

Liesel on the left and Bugatti on the right share a home in Abilene, TX in a loving and wonderful home. Liesel was never able to race and Bugatti was rescued from the animal shelter in Lubbock. Such a wonderful story and happy ending!

Windy is Dreamer's older sibling and she helped the Holder's fail fostering in 2015.

Demi--rescued by detectives in a vacant field--loved and adopted by her foster family in Midland!

Brittany's new family sent these adorable pics that demonstrate how happy she is to have a "forever family" including her new buddy--Mr. Handsome. When Tyler and Kaysha contacted us--we were so happy! What a wonderful family and home for sweet Brittany.

Lubbock, TX--Special Report: On October 30, 2016 voting for City Bank, Lubbock's Community Rewards Contest began at the stroke of midnight and among the top contenders was A Place for Us Greyhounds Rescue. City Bank is keeping count, but during the contest they only reveal the top five in each category--and that order is constantly changed around by the computer so that no one really knows for sure who won--until winners are announced at the December awards luncheon. Voting will continue until midnight on December 11.

Vote every day--once a day per email address for APFUG! We will feature a Greyhound that is either looking for a home or has already found one thanks to A Place for Us Greyhounds and its volunteers. Check here daily to meet our GREYHOUND OF THE DAY....

Celeste found the best family--My Name is Celeste & I bet you figured it out - I'm NOT a Greyhound ! I am an Irish Wolfhound that APFUG saved from being dumped by hunters in Colorado City . November 6 will be my 6 month anniversary with my family & my girl Carina who spoils me so much & gives me tummy scratches and holds me like a baby even though I outweigh her by 20lbs! None of that would have been possible for me & the other greyhounds that were dumped with me (Bear, Chelsea , Cheyenne)...

if APFUG didn't save us !!

We were shocked when Carla was dropped off at the local clinic by hunters who no longer wanted her--she had tattoos and had been raised to race but fell into the wrong hands. We speculate that she lived with them for several years and APFUG was so happy to get her and find her a home.  Carla's sporting her Pokeman hunting bandanna as she and her mom-Kimberly go for their daily jaunt around the lake. Awesome!!

Milo is on the left and Arabella is on the right. They are so precious and both of them are fairly new to living in a home. Milo, was bred to hunt and rescued in a rural area--he was malnourished and in a bad way. Arabella wasn't "fast enough" on the practice track. Their two worlds collided thanks to APFUG and the Stone family. This wonderful family adopted both of them realizing that they would be "better together"!

Erin is a special senior that is loved and adored by our Permian Basin's Director and her family--Vanessa Gunn. Vanessa sent these comments: Holiday Flyer, aka Erin. Born in Ireland Nov 23, 2003. 62 races, won 5 (according to Greyhound data). She raced in Rhode Island awhile before moving to TX where she briefly raced at Gulf. We don't know where she went after, but she was a broodie at least once. We placed her son, Ty, aka Typhoon Cat, with Cindy Beason of Odessa after he retired from racing in FL. Somehow she ended up as a stray in Midland with the kind of kennel collar used by hunters, so it's suspected she may have been a hunter (she's always had a huge prey drive, but not for cats or small dogs). I fostered her and failed. We adopted her in May 2010.

Sara Sue--loved and adored by her family since 2008.

Jessee photo-bombs her sister Sunnee as they enjoy their life in Midland!

Tatum--on the left and Lexi above--were both rescued from situations that required APFUG and its volunteers to rally and work collectively to rescue them from serious situations--Tatum was found near Idalou, left behind by hunters and Lexi had to have three pins to repair a fracture of her back leg. Now--they are both healthy and happy and live in a wonderful home in ABQ--outstanding!

This little cutie was adopted by a nice family in Lubbock. Her birthday is December 4, 2014--she is demonstrating two Greyhound traits--cockroaching and grinning!

Holly was adopted in August 2015. She took an early retirement due to a flat foot condition. Her favorite retirement activities include roaching on the couch, running out her zoomies, and cuddling with her humans!

JJ the DJ helps his Dad--Rob--at the radio station--how cool is that? JJ was rescued from the Lubbock Animal Shelter in 2014.

Dreamer--adopted by the Dunn's in 2011--she picked them and essentially  boycotted Meet and Greets so they kept her!

Manny Ca$h loved and adopted by his foster family--given care and consideration by APFUG to repair his racing injury--a torn ACL. love, love....

Rosie the lovely fawn, and her little bro' Flash, the sleek black hound were both rescued from perilous situations by APFUG. We were so happy to help them and now they have a wonderful home, in Lubbock where they are loved, adored, and spoiled by Michael and Sherry. Outstanding!!

With 38 days left to cast your daily vote--Gentleman Jim is our Greyhound of the day. He is in foster care and should be ready to move to a "forever home" as soon as he has his surgery

Cheyenne was our first Greyhound of the Day. She was saved from a terrible situation where hunters dumped her and several other sight-hounds in a remote rural area. UPDATE--CHEYENNE GOT ADOPTED BY A LOVING FAMILY AND LIVES IN CLOVIS, NM!
