Jasmine the Greyhound from England.........

This story has been verified by Snopes.com and is about a Greyhound that was rescued at a shelter in England.  Interestingly enough--we didn't need Snopes.com to verify the story since Janet and Gary--who are the humans for Onyx and Roxy actually met Jasmine last summer.  The link to the story is included. Enjoy reading how this loving and wonderful dog has become the ambassador and surrogate to the many animals that have presented to the shelter.

Here's the link to the story--enjoy!

SEVEN GREYHOUNDS SEIZED ON ANIMAL CRUELTY CHARGES IN DECEMBER

Our adoption group continues to monitor the case against an individual who was charged with animal cruelty and 7 Greyhounds were seized and are in custody as "county evidence".  The dogs are doing well and volunteers are helping with their care.  Individuals have come forward with monetary and other donations.  If you would like to help with these dogs or if you are interested in adopting one of them if the group gets custody of them--please contact us via email or phone.  The dogs have socialized very well--they are in good health considering the poor conditions they were rescued from.  The group received reports starting in October of the dog's lack of care and this information was reported to the county animal control officer who began an investigation.  It is unfortunate that these dogs fell into the wrong hands as they are innocent victims.  The person who owns these dogs is not affiliated with the traditional racing industry.  His intentions for owning these dogs was not to enjoy them as pets but to exploit them and use them for his own personal gain while neglecting to meet their basic needs.

News about Dairyland Track Closure PDF Print E-mail

November 21, 2009

There are emails going around that suggest that when the Dairyland Racetrack located in Wisconsin closes on December 31, 2009 that 300 dogs will be euthanized.  This is untrue.  When tracks close, the situation is monitored and handled professionally.  Many of the dogs will go on to race at different tracks and the ones that are ready to retire will be placed into homes via adoption agencies.  One email said that 900 Greyhounds needed placement.  So, please follow the link that is attached to find out the truth.
